Our Story
Everything about us said it shouldn't work.
A 23-year age gap. Two cultures. Two previous marriages between us. What we had that most couples don't: a foundation, built before anything else.

The arithmetic never added up. The foundation did.
The post-it
Kunbi showed up to our second date with a list of questions on a post-it note. Not conversation starters — real questions. The kind most people wait years to ask, if they ever ask at all.
Cam didn't laugh at the list. He added his own questions to it. We spent the next two weeks answering them — about our pasts, our patterns, our faith, our finances, what we were each carrying into this and what we were done carrying.
We didn't kiss for six weeks. Not because of a rule — because we both knew, from experience, what happens when you skip the foundation and hope the feeling holds the weight.
Why we slowed down
When we met, Cam was 57 and Kunbi was 34. Every reason to rush was there, and every reason to doubt was too. We were aware of the age gap. We were aware of what people would think. Two previous marriages between us had taught us exactly how expensive an unexamined beginning is.
So we asked instead of assumed. We talked about our pasts — not to perform vulnerability, but to actually understand what we were each bringing. We stayed out of the physical side of things long enough to build something underneath it.
The foundation got tested early
We come from different worlds — literally. When the Nigerian cultural expectation of a family allowance surfaced, something Cam had never heard of, it produced two days of real conflict. Not a disagreement. Conflict.
What got us through wasn't chemistry. It was the same thing that got us through every hard conversation since: we already knew how to talk to each other about things that matter, because we'd practiced on purpose. We came out of it with joint accounts, a shared vision, and more financial alignment than either of us had ever had in a relationship.
The quality of your relationship is determined long before “I do.”
Why this became a company
The questions on that post-it grew into a ritual, the ritual grew into a deck of cards, and the deck grew into Foundation Before Forever — a relationship preparation brand for people who refuse to leave love to chance.
We're not therapists, and we don't pretend to be. We're a real couple who did the work before we committed, and who built the tools we wish we'd been handed years earlier. Our faith is part of our own foundation and it shapes how we see commitment — but everything we make is open to anybody. The questions work regardless of what you believe.
We serve intentional singles who want to know themselves before they choose a partner, and couples who want to choose wisely before they commit to forever. Because the right relationship starts with the right foundation.
Five questions worth asking before you commit to anyone.
